From rainforest peaks to hidden beaches — grab the keys and let Puerto Rico's best routes come to you. No hidden fees, no deposits, unlimited miles, all in one Jeep.
Rent A Jeep →Puerto Rico packs rainforest, colonial history, mountain routes, and some of the Caribbean's best beaches into an island you can cross in a few hours — but only if you're driving something built for it. Below are eight of the most popular Jeep tour destinations in Puerto Rico, each with real driving distances, timing tips, and what to expect when you arrive. Every route works as a self-guided day trip in one of Beep Beep Jeep's all-inclusive 4x4 rentals, with no hidden fees, no mileage limits, and unlimited tolls included.
El Yunque is the only tropical rainforest in the U.S. National Forest System, and a Jeep rental is the easiest way to reach it from San Juan — about a 40-minute drive east on PR-3 and PR-191. Wind through jungle switchbacks, park near the trailheads, and hike to waterfalls like La Mina and La Coca Falls. Popular stops include Yokahú Observation Tower and the Big Tree Trail, both easy walks with big payoff views. Bring a light rain jacket since showers roll through year-round — locals will tell you that's part of the rainforest's charm. Best visited early morning on weekdays to beat both the crowds and the afternoon rain.
Plan This Tour →Cobblestone streets, blue-tinted brick, and pastel colonial buildings pack 500 years of history into a few walkable blocks near the SJU airport. Park your Jeep in a lot near the city walls (street parking is limited) and explore on foot — El Morro and Castillo San Cristóbal are the two forts every visitor should see. Afterward, wander Calle Fortaleza and Calle del Cristo for local shops, murals, and mofongo. Visit early morning or after 4 PM to avoid the midday heat and the crowds from docked cruise ships. It also pairs naturally with a coastal drive to Condado or Isla Verde on your way back.
Plan This Tour →Culebra's Flamenco Beach is consistently ranked among the best beaches in the world, and its turquoise water and near-zero development make the ferry trip worth it. Drive your Jeep about an hour from San Juan to the Ceiba Ferry Terminal, park securely, and take the passenger ferry over — vehicles aren't required on the island since everything is walkable or golf-cart distance. Spend the day snorkeling, relaxing on soft white sand, and grabbing lunch at a beachside kiosk. Book ferry tickets a few days ahead in high season, as the passenger ferry sells out fast. Round-trip, plan for a full day: the island rewards a slow pace over a rushed one.
Plan This Tour →Mosquito Bay in Vieques is widely considered the brightest bioluminescent bay on Earth, where every paddle stroke lights up the water with glowing microorganisms. Drive to the Ceiba Ferry Terminal, cross over, and rent a local vehicle or join a guided kayak tour that departs after sunset on moonless nights for the clearest glow. By day, the island's dirt roads — a Jeep's natural habitat back on the mainland — lead to wild horses roaming free and empty beaches like Playa Negra and Media Luna. Overnight stays let you fit in both the bio bay tour and a full beach day without rushing the ferry schedule.
Plan This Tour →Cabo Rojo, on Puerto Rico's southwest tip, is home to pink-tinted salt flats, dramatic limestone cliffs, and Los Morrillos Lighthouse, built in 1882. It's roughly a two-hour drive from San Juan, making it an easy full-day loop by Jeep. The last stretch to the lighthouse turns to unpaved dirt road — exactly the terrain a 4x4 is built for. Below the cliffs, Playa Sucia (also called Playa Combate nearby) is one of the most photographed beaches on the island, with calm turquoise water and soft sand. Go in the late afternoon for the best light on the salt flats and a front-row sunset view.
Plan This Tour →Guavate, in the mountain town of Cayey about 45 minutes south of San Juan, is home to Puerto Rico's legendary roadside pork route along PR-184. Family-run lechoneras line the road, each slow-roasting whole pigs over charcoal pits, served with rice, pasteles, and cold beer. The winding mountain drive itself is part of the appeal, with views over the Cordillera Central on every curve — a route that rewards a Jeep's grip on the tighter turns. Weekends bring live music, dancing, and a real local-party atmosphere, so arrive hungry and stay for the afternoon. Weekdays are quieter if you'd rather eat without the crowds.
Plan This Tour →Rincón, on Puerto Rico's west coast, is the island's surf capital — known for world-class breaks at Domes and Maria's Beach, laid-back beach towns, and some of the best sunsets on the island. It's about a 2.5-hour drive from San Juan, so many visitors pair it with a stop in Rincón for a night or two rather than a same-day round trip. The coastal roads here are made for a Jeep with the top down, linking beach after beach along Route 413 and Route 115. Cap the day at the Rincón Lighthouse (Faro de Punta Higüero) for whale watching in winter months, then grab dinner from one of the beachfront food trucks as the sun drops into the ocean.
Plan This Tour →Toro Verde, in the central mountain town of Orocovis, is home to "The Monster," one of the longest and fastest ziplines in the world, along with a full adventure course of rope bridges and rappels. The mountain roads leading there are steep, narrow, and full of switchbacks, making a 4x4 Jeep rental the most comfortable way to arrive — and part of the fun on the way there. Give yourself about 90 minutes from San Juan, more if you stop for roadside coffee along the Ruta Panorámica. Arrive early, since lines for The Monster build up fast by midday, and book zipline tickets online in advance during peak season.
Plan This Tour →Not always, but it helps. Several stops on this list — Cabo Rojo's lighthouse road, Vieques' dirt roads, and the mountain routes to Guavate and Toro Verde — involve unpaved or steep terrain where a 4x4 makes the drive smoother and more reliable than a standard sedan.
Most visitors combine 2–3 nearby stops per day. El Yunque and Old San Juan pair well together near the San Juan metro area, while Cabo Rojo and Rincón work as a west-coast loop. Culebra and Vieques each deserve their own day due to ferry schedules.
No. Every Beep Beep Jeep rental includes unlimited mileage and unlimited tolls in one flat, all-inclusive rate — no hidden fees or surprise charges at drop-off.
December through April brings the driest weather and is the most popular season. Summer and fall are quieter with lower rates, though afternoon rain showers are more common — especially near El Yunque.
Every trip on this island looks different in a Jeep. Pick your dates, grab a 4x4, and turn any of these stops into your next adventure — no hidden fees, no mileage limits, no stress.

I absolutely loved beep beep jeep, firstly because the booking process is one of the easier ones and your car is guaranteed. Second, because they don’t have crazy fees, we had two drivers with no extra fee and one under 25 with no extra fee. AND no hold on your card. We used a car seat from them with a flat rate instead of an everyday rate. There are no long lines because they leave it right in the garage for your arrival time at the airport so you go right to the parking garage, get in and drive away. They also communicate very well about the reservation, a few emails and texts before. Same thing at drop off, you just leave the car in the parking lot and leave. The car was clean and it smelled really good, plus when we got in the car they give you a little baggy with treats and that was really cute.![]()
